PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING PMU:
ELIGIBILITY
If you have had previous PMU done elsewhere, a consultation is required before booking.
You may NOT get PMU if you:
-
are under the age of 18
-
are prone to Keloid scars
-
are pregnant or breastfeeding
-
have been on Accutane within 1 year
CAUTIONS
You can get PMU, but the following must be controlled:
-
if you have skin sensitivity, irritation, or conditions such as eczema and rosacea
-
other medical conditions such as diabetes, undergoing chemotherapy, viral infections, taking medications etc. (ask your doctor for approval)
The following skincare should be discontinued prior to your appointment:
-
Accutane (1 year prior)
-
Retin-A (4 weeks prior)
-
Vitamin C, Hyaluronic acid, Glycolic acid, AHAs (2 weeks prior)
PRE-CARE
-
Skincare: If you have clogged pores and flaky in the forehead area, it is recommended to get the skin healthy and clear before doing PMU. Starting a basic skincare routine 4 weeks prior to appointment is beneficial (cleanser, moisturizer, SPF daily, exfoliate weekly)
For best PMU results:
-
NO caffeine or alcohol less than 12 hours before
-
NO exercise day day-of before appointment
-
NO tanning 2 weeks prior
-
NO waxing, threading, plucking 5 days prior
-
Avoid taking Advil, Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen (unless medically necessary) 48 hours prior to your procedure, as this thins the blood
-
Extra strength Tylenol CAN be taken prior to appointment
-
Botox, electrolysis, facials, and microneedling procedures should be done 1 month before or 2 weeks after
-
You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle - it's recommended to avoid booking your appointment during this time
AFTERCARE
For best results, follow for 10 days after:
-
The brows MUST be kept clean, dry, and sweat-free
-
Do not apply skincare, makeup, or product to your brows
-
Avoid excess water, sweating, pools, saunas, baths, and steam. Shower visors will be provided to help with hair washing.
-
Clean the brows gently 1-2 times daily with a damp cotton pad and tiny amount of mild, unscented hand soap. Blot away all soap and pat dry well.
-
For dry skin types, Aquaphor can be applied 1-2 times daily in TINY amounts (equivalent to a grain of rice per brow)
-
You can go back to your regular face washing and skincare after 2 weeks.
Appearance during healing:
-
During the first week of healing, the brow area will be at its darkest and thickest.
-
During the second week, the brows will flake (small flakes or skin and colour will come off). You must let the scabs naturally flake off bit by bit. It will take 10 to 14 days for flaking to be over.
-
After the flaking is over, the brows will be very light or disappear (aka "ghosting phase"). It will take a few more weeks for the ink to settle and skin to regain translucency.
-
The true result is seen by week 6 of healing. Generally, the ink resurfaces 30-50% lighter than day 1. The colour also becomes cooler and softer. A touchup can be done after week 6.
